Sixty percent of teenagers spend at least twenty hours each week watching television, which causes weight gain, antisocial behavior, and irregular sleep patterns. So, if you really have nothing better to do, I suggest Breaking Bad to keep you occupied for a while.

Breaking Bad is worth your twenty hours each week. The storyline draws you into the television series. The cast, Bryan Cranston (Walter White), Anna Gunn (Skyler White), Aaron Paul (Jesse Pinkman), Dean Norris (Hank Schrader), Betsy Brandt (Marie Schrader), RJ Mitte (Walter White Jr), and Bob Odenkirk (Saul Goodman) becomes family through the series.

Breaking Bad is a show about a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife Skyler and his son Walter Junior, who has cerebral palsy. When Walt Junior is diagnosed with stage three cancer and given two years to live, he’s determined to secure his family’s financial security. How? Walter chooses the dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in his world. This series explores how a diagnosis of death can transform a mild family man into a kingpin of the drug trade.

Walter White (dad, amin character), seeks former student Jesse Pinkman to assist in his new found drug business. Jesse becomes the man who handles business and Walt becomes the one who “cooks” and produces the desired drugs. Walt invents the name Heisenberg to hide his identity (possibly to sound tough as well) and in reference to the German physicist Werner Heisenberg. Together Walt and Jesse plan to make thousands. Things started out slow but eventually led Walt and Jesses to famous, can’t be beat, blue meth.

I personally adore this show. Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul’s acting abilities are far beyond convincing. The story, sad and at times twisted and cruel, is very exciting and dramatic, making every episode “on the edge” entertainment. When I first started the show I didn’t think there was one slow paced moment. The story hooks the viewer right away, practically forcing those already entranced to keep watching.

Most of us have twenty hours to fill. Why waste it on bad television? Treat yourself to the action and drama of Breaking Bad.
